Report: Mavericks Interested In Jrue Holiday, Lonzo Ball, Chris Paul

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Dallas Mavericks are interested in Jrue Holiday, Lonzo Ball and Chris Paul

The Mavericks need a point guard since Kyrie Irving will miss a chunk of next season recovering from his left ACL tear.

Holiday is under contract with the Boston Celtics, while Ball is under contract with the Chicago Bulls.

Paul played for the San Antonio Spurs this season. He becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

“League sources say Dallas is expected to at least explore whether there are any feasible trade pathways to Boston’s Jrue Holiday â€” complicated as that would likely be given the three years and $104 million still left on Holiday’s contract — while also maintaining an interest in a far more reasonable trade target as we’ve discussed on the DLLS Mavs podcast: Lonzo Ball,” Stein wrote.

“Another name to monitor for Dallas: Chris Paul. The free agent-to-be just turned 40 on May 6, but Paul also just played (and started) 82 games in his maiden season as a San Antonio Spur.”

Holiday averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season in 62 games. The Celtics, who won the championship last year, lost to the New York Knicks in the second round of this year’s playoffs.

Ball appeared in 35 games this season after missing two years in a row with a serious knee injury. The UCLA product averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Bulls, who missed the playoffs again.

Paul, 40, averaged 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists for the Spurs this season. He played in all 82 games.

The Mavericks missed the playoffs this year after making the NBA Finals last year. They traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis and Max Christie in February.

Dallas won the 2025 draft lottery. The front office is expected to draft Duke’s Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick in this year’s draft.

Irving is expected to be out until at least January or February. The All-Star has a player option to return to the Mavericks next season.

Irving is anticipated to decline his 2025-26 player option and sign a new contract with Dallas.
